Ehrlichia/Anaplasma, Molecular Detection, PCR, Blood

OVERVIEW

Ehrlichiosis and anaplasmosis, caused by Ehrlichia and Anaplasma species respectively, are emerging tick-borne infections presenting with fever, fatigue, and flu-like symptoms. Laboratory findings typically show leukopenia and elevated liver enzymes. Diagnosis relies on PCR and serologic testing, and co-infections are common. The identification of new Ehrlichia species further complicates disease management and treatment strategies.
